Luc from Concert AV: My Experience at the 2025 NAMM Show and the Exciting Launch of the EVOLVE 70 & 90

Hey everyone, Luc here from Concert AV! I just got back from the 2025 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, and let me tell you—it was an absolute blast. There was no shortage of incredible new products, but one of the most exciting launches was the introduction of the EVOLVE 70 & 90 loudspeakers from Electro-Voice. As a long-time fan of the EVOLVE series, I couldn’t wait to see how these new models push the boundaries of portable sound reinforcement. Let’s dive into what makes these speakers so special.

EVOLVE 70: Power, Portability, and Performance

The EVOLVE 70 Column Loudspeaker System is an impressive new addition to the already-renowned EVOLVE family. Designed for musicians, DJs, and industry professionals, this system brings a perfect balance of power, clarity, and portability to live sound setups. Whether you're covering a wedding, corporate event, or large-scale gig, the EVOLVE 70 delivers impeccable audio quality with minimal setup time.

  • Maximum SPL: 133 dB

  • Coverage: 120° wide horizontal, 25° vertical asymmetrical

  • Drivers: Eight 4.7” neodymium drivers

  • Subwoofer: 15” sub with a low-frequency extension down to 35 Hz

  • Connectivity: XLR/TRS combo Mic-Line inputs, XLR and RCA line level inputs, digital AES/EBU, and Bluetooth

  • Portability: Lightweight design, ergonomic handles, and a carrying case for the array and distance pole

One of the most impressive aspects of the EVOLVE 70 is how it maintains the signature portability of the EVOLVE family while delivering even greater output. At 133 dB SPL, this speaker provides serious power, yet it’s still easy to transport and set up thanks to its smart design and the 3-2-1 assembly approach—three pieces that fit together with just two clicks to form one system.

The EVOLVE 70 also integrates seamlessly with the QuickSmart Mobile App, allowing users to control their entire system wirelessly, making it easier than ever to tweak your sound on the fly. For professionals who demand premium performance and versatility, this speaker is a game-changer.

EVOLVE 90: The Next-Level Column Speaker System

While the EVOLVE 70 is a powerhouse, the EVOLVE 90 takes things up another notch. This is the largest format column loudspeaker system from Electro-Voice, and it’s designed to provide even more output and deeper bass response while remaining lightweight and portable.

  • Maximum SPL: 134 dB

  • Coverage: 120° wide horizontal, 25° vertical asymmetrical

  • Drivers: Eight 4.7” neodymium drivers

  • Subwoofer: 18” sub with a low-frequency extension down to 28 Hz

  • Connectivity: XLR/TRS combo Mic-Line inputs, XLR and RCA line level inputs, digital AES/EBU, and Bluetooth

  • Portability: Lighter than some competing 15” models, with an available transport dolly

The EVOLVE 90 is an absolute beast, featuring an 18” subwoofer that extends all the way down to 28 Hz, making it perfect for bass-heavy music like EDM and hip-hop. Despite its larger size, it remains incredibly portable, even lighter than some 15” column arrays from other brands.

Just like the EVOLVE 70, the EVOLVE 90 is designed for rapid deployment with the EVOLVE 3-2-1 approach, ensuring setup is fast and effortless. The QuickSmart Mobile App integration makes it easy to adjust settings remotely, offering a level of convenience that industry professionals will appreciate.

Final Impressions

The launch of the EVOLVE 70 & 90 was hands-down one of the biggest highlights of my NAMM 2025 experience. Electro-Voice has truly raised the bar with these models, delivering powerful, portable, and user-friendly speaker systems that cater to the evolving needs of DJs, musicians, and event professionals.

If you're in the market for a column loudspeaker system that delivers incredible sound without sacrificing portability, the EVOLVE 70 & 90 should be at the top of your list. Stay tuned for more updates from Concert AV, and if you have any questions about these speakers, feel free to reach out!
